Mary A. Gravel

Mary A.Gravel, 89, of North Smithfield, RI passed away on February 15, 2017, at the Grandview Center in Cumberland.

She was the loving wife of the late Normand L. Gravel. She was born in Millville, MA, daughter of the late Edward & Winifred (Duffy) McNamara.

Mary was a loving home maker and both she and her late husband spent many years providing foster care services for individuals with disabilities. She was very active with Holy Family Church. Mary was a resident of North Smithfield for the majority of her life.


She is survived by her sons, Bill Gravel of North Smithfield, John Gravel and his wife Dolores of Woonsocket and Kevin Bligh of North Smithfield, her grandchildren, Billy Gravel and his wife Sarah of North Smithfield and Joshua Gravel and his wife Stephanie Nadeau of Providence and a brother, Timothy McNamara of Millville.


She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Gravel, daughter, Ann-Marie Gravel, son, Stephen Clarke and her siblings, Edward, John, Catherine and William McNamara.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9am from the Egidio DiPardo & Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Ave., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Holy Family Church in Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Slatersville. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 to 8pm.
