Eugene H. “Ferrier” Laferrier, 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 4, 2010. He was the husband of the late Loretta (Pouliot) Laferrier.Born in Harrisville, the son of the late Juliette (SanSoucie) Woodlock, he lived in Burrillville all his life.
Best known for his service to the community as the owner of Midway Auto Sales and Service for 28 years, he was also a former Harrisville volunteer firefighter, a former member of the Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club, a member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus for over 40 years and was inducted into the Burrillville Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008 for being a member of the 1941 championship high school football team.
Gene was a loving family man, often taking his children and grandchildren on hunting, fishing and snowmobiling trips to his camp in Canada. He also spent many a Sunday afternoon watching his beloved Patriots.
He is survived by his son, Eugene W. Laferrier and his wife Donna; two daughters, Judith A. Flynn and her husband Dennis, and Janice M. Plante and her husband Kevin; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine M. Smith and Carol A. Waterman, and a companion of many years Janet Marr.
He was the brother of the late James Woodlock..
His funeral will be held Friday at 9am from the Brown Funeral Home 1496 Victory Hwy. Oakland with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patrick’s Church in Harrisville. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Pascoag. Calling will be held Thursday from 4-7pm.
