Alfred E. Schenck

Alfred E. Schenck, 88, of North Smithfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2017 after a long illness.  He was the beloved husband for 66 years to Yvette M. (Roberge) Schenck.  

He was born in Esmond, RI, to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Johnson) Schenck.

 

Mr. Schenck was a veteran of the Army and Marine Reserves. He worked as a laborer for Donatelli Building Company, North Providence, for over 35 years. He also worked part time at Stop & Shop for seven years.  Mr. Schenck was a charter member of the volunteer force for the Primrose Fire Department.  He volunteered many days maintaining historic cemetery sites around the state.  His greatest joy was working around the house and having his family visit.  He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church.

 

He is also survived by his son, Dr. Allen Schenck of Glocester and his four daughters, Norma Plante of San Diego, CA, Suzanne Levitre of Blackstone, MA, Annette Tessier of North Smithfield and Carolyn Basierbe of Livonia, Michigan.  He is also survived by two brothers, Roger of Honolulu, HI and Robert of Johnston and one sister, Elaine Magaw, of Greenville and predeceased by his siblings Audrey Schenck, Dorothy Reynolds and Barbara Ford.  Mr. Schenck leaves seven grandchildren, Kenneth, Justin, Nicole, Alex, Michelle, Thomas and Lynette, and one great grandson, Cody.

His funeral will be held on Friday, April 28 at 9am from the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield with a mass of Christian burial at 10am in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Woonsocket, RI.  Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland with military honors.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 27, from 4 to 7 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his parish, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society RI 2348 Post Rd. #202 Warwick RI 02886.
