Daniel C. Halloran, 77, of North Smithfield, passed away on February 22, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was an adoring husband to Muriel (Romprey) for 52 years.
Dan is survived by his daughters; Patricia Halloran and husband Frank Chenette, Beth Kurczy and husband Chris, Kathleen Fortier and husband, Fred; his grandchildren, Chris Chenette and wife Kristen, Tom Chenette, Sean Halloran and wife Bryanna, Megan, Kate, and Julia Kurczy, Daniel and Ava Fortier; and his great grandson, Jack Chenette. He also leaves his sisters, Agnes King and Catherine Phillips. He was the son of the late Daniel and Winifred (Barby) Halloran.
Dan was a proud first generation Irish-American, dedicated to public service. He served in the US Coast Guard and was a Metro Washington DC policeman, obtaining a degree in Law Enforcement from American University. Dan later worked as an US Secret Service Agent until he retired. Dan served eight years on the North Smithfield Town Council, with four years as Council President. He was elected to the Council again in 2016, stepping down only when he became ill.
Dan was well known for his sense of humor and his dedication to family. He enjoyed raising farm animals and working outdoors.
His funeral will be held on February 28th at 8:30 am from the Keene-Brown Funeral Home in North Smithfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Cumberland. Burial will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Slatersville. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4-8 PM.
