Dennis F, McSweeney

Dennis F. McSweeney, 85, of North Smithfield, RI passed away on July 28, 2017, at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the devoted husband of the late Madeline (Melnyk) McSweeney, he was born in Providence, son of the late Dennis & Winifred (McDonough) McSweeney. Dennis worked at the RI Department of Health as a program planner from where he retired. He graduated from Lasalle Academy and then joined the army during the Korean War. When he returned he attended Providence College, graduating in 1956 with a business degree. He is survived by his children, Dennis R. McSweeney of North Smithfield, Justine Maciel and Melissa Wilson both of Florida, grandchildren, Blake, Alexandra, Maxwell and Chelsea and one great-granddaughter, Harper. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Lynch. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 10am from the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. John's Church in Slatersville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 5-8pm.
