Gernt, Arthur R. Jr, of North Smithfield, RI passed away unexpectedly with his family at his side on May 13, 2017, at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Deborah (Dwyer) Gernt. He was the love of her life. Born in East Providence the son of Pauline Gernt and the late Arthur Gernt Sr. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Danielle Tiano & her fiancé Dave Ferguson of North Smithfield, a son, Nicholas & his wife Megan of Attleboro, grandchildren, Rocco, Anderson and Rory, his brother Michael & wife Susan Gernt of Cranston. A graduate of East Providence High School, he worked in the jewelry industry, he owned & operated the Seekonk Getty in Seekonk, MA for 15 years. He worked for Silgan (formerly Polytop) for 12 years and was co-owner of Debbie's Breakfast Place on Park Ave., in Woonsocket. He put his heart and soul in the restaurant, loving and joking with the customers all the time. His passion was cars, motorcycles and his best girl 2nd to Debbie was Katie his golden retriever. He is also survived by 3 step children Jennifer Lebrun of FL Jason (Julia) Parkhurst of NC and Steven Parkhurst of Cranston and 5 grandchildren. His funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30am from the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, Waterman Ave., E. Providence. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Riverside. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Friends of North Smithfield Animal Shelter PO Box 653 Slatersville, RI 02876.
