James Gouin, 64, of Burrillville, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Normand and Theresa (Trinque) Gouin. He grew up in North Smithfield, RI before moving to Burrillville where he has lived for over 40 years. Jim owned and operated JDM Supply with his son Michael for over 25 years. He loved the outdoors, enjoying biking, kayaking, and especially hiking. He was a member of the RI North South Trail for over 25 years, receiving a special honor in 2017 for all the work he did for the organization during his time with them. His happiest moments were times he spent with his family. He was a devoted grandfather who loved spending time with his five grandchildren and always enjoyed watching them play sports. Jim leaves behind two children, his son Michael Gouin and wife Hilary, and his daughter Amy Fanion and husband Kevin. He leaves behind his grandchildren, which were his greatest joy…Eli, Justice, Lukas, Alex, and Zachary. He also leaves behind two sisters, Jane Dobrowolski and husband Mike, and Jo-Ann Dean and husband Charlie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Harrisville on Saturday, July 28th at 9:30am, followed by burial at St. John’s Cemetery in Slatersville.
