Mary Bibeault Obituary

Mary ( Mrs. Charles) Bibeault Sr. passed away October 10, 2018 at The Friendly Home in Woonsocket, RI, where she had lived for the last 8 years. She was born in 1927 in Blackstone, MA, to the late Annie and Zachary Sokolsky. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Bibeault in 1970, her sister Stella Miszkiewicz, her brothers Alexander Sokolsky, Walter Sokolsky and Frank Cybulski. Mary graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1943 and Hill College in Woonsocket in 1944. She was then recruited by the Federal government to work in the Treasury Department as one of the original "Government Girls" living in Washington, D.C. in dormitories for the rest of World war II. Upon her return home at the end of the War, she then spent the majority of her working life as a bookkeeper in the automotive industry at various auto dealerships in Woonsocket. She became as expert in automotive financing, earning many awards for her skills and efficiency. She worked at the former Whipple Pump Co. and I Medoff Co. before concluding her working career at Woonsocket High School as a bookkeeper responsible for school clubs and other fundraising activities. Mary was a long time member of Our Saviour's Parish Polish National Catholic Church in Woonsocket. She served on many Parish committees, served as a counselor, advisor and chaperone to Youth Groups, traveling to convocations and retreats throughout the east Coast. Mary also served as Parish Delegate to the National Synod of the Church, helping to form policy and electing officials. She served as Secretary, Treasurer, and other offices in her parish. She particularly loved the Ladies' Adoration Society and the preparations for the bazaars and fairs the Parish held. Mary was also a member of the St. Marks Lutheran Senior Club and served as a past President of the Deerfield Commons of North Smithfield Association . Being proud of her Polish heritage, she traveled to Poland, the land of her mother's birth. Mary is survived her daughter Elizabeth Liard and her husband Robert of Conway, SC, her son Charles and his wife Gayle Bibeault of Woonsocket, her grandsons Brian and Charles M. of Woonsocket, step grandson Nicholas Liard of Cumberland, great grandson Stefan Bibeault of Woonsocket, her sister Sonia Gauvin and her husband Leonard of Cumberland and her nephew Steven Miszkiewicz of Tthe Villages, FL The family would like to thank the staff at Friendly Nursing Home for their excellent care provided to Mary over the past 8 years. Her funeral will be Tuesday at 10am from the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield with a Requiem Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Our Savioir's Parish National Catholic Church, Smithfield Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
