Antonia P. (Bucci) Maroney Horning, 88, of Burrillville, RI passed away on August 30, 2025, at the Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pascoag surrounded by her devoted family. She was the daughter of the late Arturo and Angelina (Pesaturo) Bucci, Sr., and the beloved wife of the late Dennis Horning.
Born and raised in North Providence, Antonia later settled in Burrillville to raise her growing family. She enjoyed a distinguished career as a Medical Records Supervisor with the State of Rhode Island until her retirement.
As the Matriarch of her family, Antonia was known for her open and loving heart, compassion and generosity, always willing to assist those in need. She took great pleasure in entertaining guests, making everyone feel welcome in her home. She never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend. Her interests included painting, coloring, crafting, camping with family, taking day trips, and she had a deep appreciation for pasta and Italian cuisine. For the past three years she participated in activities at the Scituate Senior Center and cherished her Tuesday afternoons spent with her “friend” Jesse Liam.
Antonia is survived by her children: Susan A. Lavallee (Russell), Edward Maroney, III (Karen), Richard A. Maroney (Shannon), Antonia M. Charpentier (David), Sharon B. Sawyer (Peter), and stepdaughter, Lisa Campanello; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Anna Costa, Angela Viola, and Dolores Norberg.
She was predeceased by her stepson, Kevin Horning and her siblings, John Bucci, Agostino Bucci, Frances DeCristofaro, Marie Matarazzo, Arturo, Jr., Carmella Hebert and Concetta DaSilva.
The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by the staff and residents at Overlook Nursing Home, Aging Well, PACE, and Continuum Hospice Care to Antonia and her family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Hwy, Oakland, RI. Committal Prayers will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at the Rhode Island Veteran’s Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
