Barbara S. Simoneau, 90, of Chepachet, RI formerly of Burrillville and North Smithfield, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 28,2026 at the St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield.  Born in Sanford, ME., Barbara was the daughter of the late Wilfred & Florence (Whiting) Marchand. She was the wife of the late Arthur Simoneau and the late Roger Sweeney. When her first husband, Roger, passed away at a young age in 1969, Barbara took on the responsibility of raising her large family along with keeping her home and working as a CNA for the St. Antoine Residence for the next 35 years, retiring in 2006.  Barbara has devoted her life to caring for her family and for others, always sensitive to those in need. In addition to raising 13 of her own children, she took in three more children, for a number of years, and treated them like her own. She was a fun-loving person and very much enjoyed music and dancing and spending time with family especially her grandchildren, whenever she could.  She is survived by her children, Norma Davies and her husband Robert, Judy Berard and her husband Richard, Deborah Spellman and her husband Michael, Michael Sweeney, Karen Bertone, Darlene Donohue and her husband Ronald, David Sweeney and his wife Annette, James Sweeney and Renee Falcioni and her husband David along with 25 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren as well as a sister, Leatrice Felicio. She was preceded in death by four of her children, Roger Sweeney, Jr., Stephen and Bryan Sweeney and Joanne Bouchard and also by two of her sisters, Sharon Silvia and Patricia Denny. Calling hours will be held Saturday March 7, 2026 in the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd. North Smithfield from 10 AM until 12 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow in St. Theresa’s Cemetery in Nasonville. Funeral Service can also be viewed via video live stream starting at 12:30 PM at https://www.facebook.com/TheKeeneBrownFuneralHomesInc.
