Bertha T. L'Esperance, 90, of Glendale, RI, passed away on December 12, 2020, at the Overlook Nursing Home in Pascoag.
She was the wife of the late Arthur L'Esperance. Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Joseph & Cora (Lemieux) Cote.
Bertha and her husband, along with their son Robert, owned and operated the former Ray's Seafood store in Woonsocket for 38 years. She previously worked for the post office and the former Johnny's Clam Spa Restaurant in Glendale. She was past president of the Burrillville Senior Citizens and was a long time member of the Nasonville Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Bertha was very active on numerousĀ fundraisingĀ boards at St. Theresa's Church and enjoyed playing cards.
She is survived by her son, Robert L'Esperance and his wife Mary, grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Ashley and Timothy L'Esperance and a great-granddaughter, Leona.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Normand Cote.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 AM in Our Lady of Good Help Church, Victory Hwy., Mapleville. Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Pascoag will be private. Due to the covid virus, social distancing guidelines will be applied upon on arrival. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Overlook Nursing Home Activities Fund, 14 Rock Ave., Pascoag, RI 02859. Arrangements are entrusted to the Keene-Brown Funeral Home in North Smithfield.
