Carol Eloise (Messier) Taschereau

Carol E. Taschereau, 86, of Oakland, RI passed away on August 13, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of Joseph and Edna (Langlois) Messier and the devoted wife of Bertrand Taschereau for 67 years.

Carol was a 1954 graduate of Burrillville High School and a graduate of URI, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972 and her Master of Arts in English degree in 1977. During this time, she was a member of Phi-Kappa-Phi, Kappa-Delta-Pi and Delta-Kappa-Gamma Honor Societies. Carol retired in 1998 after 27 years of teaching at the Ponaganset High School & Middle School, where she also served as English Department Head. She received many accolades and awards during her career.

She loved to travel, having visited all 50 states and many international destinations including Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Russia. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Besides her loving husband, Bertrand, Carol is survived by daughter Patricia Coleman and her husband Paul, son, Steven Taschereau and his wife Lisa, and 4 grandchildren, Matthew Coleman, Christopher, Alexa and Amber Taschereau.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Randall and Dianne Young.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Hwy., Oakland, RI. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, August 18, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Her funeral will be held Monday, August 19, 2024 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Help Church, 1063 Victory Hwy., Mapleville. Burial will follow in St. Theresa’s Cemetery, Ledoux Dr., Nasonville.
