Dennis P. Sawyer

Dennis P. Sawyer, 68, of Woonsocket passed away on October 31, 2024 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital.

Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Ernest and Estelle (Marceau) Sawyer. He was a Burrillville resident for most of his life, having also lived in Pawtucket and most recently, Woonsocket with his friend and caretaker Stephanie. 

Dennis’s passion for music stemmed from his early childhood years when he first began playing the drums on household pots and pans. An avid and talented drummer,  Dennis performed regularly with his band, including a momentous performance on the John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band’s drum set in Newport, RI. Dennis was also passionate about WrestleMania and traveling. He was a kind hearted man who loved life and never met a stranger. 

Dennis worked for Atlas Pallet, Carol Lorel Elementary School, and enjoyed volunteering with the Oakland Mapleville Fire Department. 

Dennis is survived by his brothers Peter Sawyer of Oakland, RI and Lucien Sawyer of Pascoag, RI. 

He was preceded in death by his brothers Jeffrey and John Sawyer.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Keene-Brown Funeral Home: 445 Greenville Rd. N. Smithfield, RI.

Calling hours will take place in the funeral home on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM with a funeral service taking place at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the St. Theresa’s Cemetery in Nasonville, RI.
