Diane F. (Gauthier) Vadeboncoeur, 70, of North Smithfield, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Born March 2, 1953, in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Charles “Ed” Gauthier and Beatrice (Denomme) Gauthier.
She was the beloved wife of Emile “Sonny” Vadeboncoeur, to whom she was married for 48 years. Diane and Sonny met at a neighbor’s house while he was doing renovations. After they married, Diane supported her husband’s carpentry business, bookkeeping and managing all administrative responsibilities. In addition to managing her husband’s business, Diane was a homemaker and a hospice volunteer. The roles that were most important to her, however, were those of Mom and Memere to her 3 treasured children and 7 grandchildren.
Diane was an avid reader and she loved traveling with family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, having made hats, gloves, scarves, stuffed animals and blankets for her family, friends and for donations.
She was the matriarch, a fierce advocate for her family who would often be the first call if someone needed help of any kind.
Diane is survived by her children, Dawn Hardy and her husband, Brian; Tracy Vadeboncoeur and her husband, David Bouley; Eric Vadeboncoeur and his wife Kristin. She also leaves her grandchildren, Shayna Kelley, and her husband, Ryan; Alyssa, Connor, and Evan Hardy; Cody and Cassandra Bouley; and Ethan and Grace Vadeboncoeur. They will greatly miss their cherished Mom V/Memere. Diane is also survived by her brother, James Gauthier and his wife Betty; her sister Donna Lavimodiere and her husband James Carrier; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nursing team and staff of HopeHealth Hospice for the kindness and loving care given to Diane.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visitation on Saturday, October 28th from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. at Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield, RI 02896. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Lincoln.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Diane to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN would be appreciated.
