Gail A. (Haggas) Bursaw

Gail Ann Bursaw (Haggas), 69, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026 in Johnston, RI.

Gail of Chepachet, RI found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and appreciating life’s simple pleasures. Preceded in death by her father, Herbert Haggas; mother, Theresa, and brother, Paul. She leaves behind her loving husband, George Bursaw; her son, Ian Hopkins and his wife, Stefanie; her daughter, Jolene Hopkins; her cherished grandchildren; her brother, Glen; sister, Stella, and many other family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Gail found her greatest peace and joy at her beloved cabin in Maine with her dog, Jake. She loved the outdoors and spent countless happy hours riding ATVs through the woods, kayaking with family and friends and making memories with those she loved. She was also a talented seamstress, who enjoyed sewing and sharing her creativity with family and friends. Gail will be remembered for her quick wit and generous heart. She loved to laugh and had a special way of bringing joy to those around her. Always ready to lend a hand, she was deeply devoted to her family and friends. Her adventurous spirit, dedication to those she loved and countless acts of generosity leave a lasting legacy.

Gail will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield, RI. Burial services will follow on Monday, June 1, at 11:45 AM at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend and honor Gail’s life and memory.
