Irene Nolda Obituary

Irene (Lakomski) Nolda, 90, of Burrillville, died February 12, 2021 at Overlook Nursing Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Roland F. Nolda.  They lived for many years on Central Avenue in Mapleville.

Born in Providence, Irene was the youngest daughter of the late Bronislaw and Feliksa (Marciniak) Lakomski.  Irene was a loving sister to the late Helen M. Ennis (Joseph) and to the late Chester Lakomski. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1948, where she was an editor of the school yearbook, NETOP.    In 1950, Irene joined the Bell Telephone company as a directory assistance operator.  When she retired as a Business Services Advisor in 1984, Irene had many friends whose friendships she maintained throughout her retirement.

Irene was a kind and generous person who was dedicated her community and her church.  She was a Charter Member of the Burrillville Historical Society and one of the Ladies of the Pascoag Library.  She was President of the Sampson World War II Vets Auxiliary in Romulus, New York for five terms. Irene was a long time and faithful communicant of Our Lady of Good Help, where she was Co-chair of Project Pride, Chairman of Card Parties and President of the Rosary and Altar Society. Irene also gave her time as an ESL Instructor and volunteered at Cherry Hill Manor with her dog, Sandy.

Irene was most especially loving and dedicated to her family.  She leaves a nephew, John Ennis (Melody) of Cranston, a niece, Nancy MacKenzie of Pawtucket, a nephew, Robert Lakomski (Lisa) of Newton, Massachusetts, two nieces, Laurel Toth and Joanne Lakomski, and a sister-in-law, Constance Lakomski, all of Ohio.  She enjoyed having her great-nephews, Kevin Ennis, Clark Lakomski, and Scott, Trevor, and Matthew MacKenzie, and great-nieces, Julianna and Leah Lakomski, in her life.

Irene was also close with her husband’s many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren, including Lawrence Kulick, Christine Dailey and Marilyn McCann. She was sister-in-law of the late, Mary McCann, Annie Kulick, Jennie Nolda, Charles Nolda and Stanley Nolda.

Irene also held two long-term friends dear to her; Ann Elliot and Dolores Clements.

All are invited to join in honoring her passing.
