James V. Andrade, Sr, 58, of Woonsocket, RI passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence with his son by his side. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Joaquin Andrade Sr. and Jean (Costa) Andrade.
James was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving as a 2nd Class Petty Officer of Seabees. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Local 57.
During James’s courageous battle with kidney disease, he was cared for by his loving daughter, Janice and husband Daniel.
He enjoyed anime, reading and working on cars at the garage with his longtime friend Doug. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and being sure to keep up the family traditions. He also enjoyed visiting the cemetery to plant flowers in remembrance of his deceased loved ones.
He is survived by his children, James V. Andrade, Jr., Janice (Andrade) Cullen and her husband Daniel and his grandson, Oliver.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Joaquin Andrade, Jr., Joanna and Jeffrey Andrade.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Janice Andrade and Jaunita Michaud.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Egidio DiPardo & Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Ave., Woonsocket.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Burial, with Military honors, will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donation in memory of James can be made to the National Kidney Foundation of America.
