Jane Eugenia Bussell Jurkiewicz

Jane Eugenia (Bussell) Jurkiewicz, RN, 87, of Burrillville, RI passed away on May 13, 2023. Born in the little village of Seleatin, Romania. She was the daughter of the late Josef and Stanislava (Maruszczak) Jurkiewicz. She came to America when her parents left Europe in 1949 after World War II.

A skilled musician, Jane sang, played the piano, the organ and the Bavarian Zither.
She was a prolific knitter of gorgeous blankets who also enjoyed sewing, cross stitch and crewel work. She loved to garden, while surrounded by flowers and nature.

Jane was a longtime parishioner of St. Patricks’ Church in Harrisville. She belonged to their Rosary and Altar Society, the Lazarous Society, as well as being a “church lady” who volunteered for several church functions. She very reluctantly retired from these activities a few years ago due to health issues.

She is survived by her 6 children, Roxanne Mottola and her husband Albert, John Henderson and his wife Karen, Michael Bussell and his wife Donna, Mark Bussell, Bess Fanning and Matthew Bussell. Also,11 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren and her beloved cat, Alice. She also leaves behind her younger brother Julius and his wife Anne Jurkiewicz.

She was preceded in death by her older brother, Thaddeus A. Jurkiewicz.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home,1496 Victory Hwy., Oakland, RI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 9:30 AM in Saint Patrick’s Church, Harrisville. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Pascoag Main St.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Patrick’s Church, Harrisville RI.
