Jean Mulligan Obituary

Jean L. (Gervais) Mulligan, 91, of Naples, Florida, passed away on December 8, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in North Chelmsford, MA, she was the daughter of the late J. Alphonse and Georgianna (Chevalier) Gervais. She is reunited in eternal peace with her devoted husband of 54 years, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Edward E. Mulligan.

She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her children, Edward Mulligan (Deanna), Patricia Mulligan, Michael Mulligan (Gina), Robert Mulligan (partner Colleen Leonard), William Mulligan (Christine), Ann Marie Mulligan (Herbert Hopkins), Joseph Mulligan (Christine), and Brian Mulligan (Pamela). Eight grandchildren, Jessica Whittington (Shaun), Edward III, Wayne, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Cameron, Shaun Mulligan, Joseph Baffoni, and three great-grandchildren: Elijah, Nicholas, and Azai.

Before dedicating herself to homemaking and nurturing eight children, Jean worked in retail and then as a payroll clerk for Lowell Electric Light where she met her husband. She later worked for her son William as a bookkeeper at his plastic recycling company. Her strong work ethic and commitment to family defined her life. Jean volunteered her time at the St. Patrick’s Church Rosary and Altar Society and was a member of the Finance Committee. She was a former Girl Scout Leader, President of the Burrillville Art Society, and a member of the Mothers of Twins Club, Alpine Country Club, and The Classics Country Club in Naples, Florida.

Beyond her roles as a mother and professional, Jean found joy in various hobbies, including gardening, sewing, painting, baking for bake sales, golf, and exploring the world through travel.
She mastered water skiing at the age of 50 with the support of her children cheering her on. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Jean’s warm presence and love created lasting memories for all fortunate to share in her company. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Oliver, Edmond, Adelard, Normand, Roland Gervais, Blanche Turcotte Day, Gertrude LaBelle, Irene Lavoie, Estelle Vayo, and Rita Marchand. She is survived by her brother Leon Gervais, who continues to carry on her family's enduring bond.

Jean’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those touched by her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. May she rest in eternal peace.
