John R. Rowey, 88, of Woonsocket, RI, passed away on March 23, 2023, under the care of Hope Hospice at Landmark Medical Center. Born in Woonsocket, RI. He was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Higazy) Rowey and was the loving husband of the late Judith (Carpentier) Rowey.
John loved spending time with his friends and family and in his earlier days, enjoyed traveling with his wife.
John worked most of his life as a mechanic and truck driver. He also drove heavy equipment while enlisted in the U.S. Army and then for his father’s business, Rowey Trucking Co., Inc.
He was also a member of the VFW and the Rhode Island and American Trucking Associations.
He is survived by his brother, Anthony and wife, Fadia (Al-Onaini) Rowey. He also leaves behind his niece/goddaughter, Mary Ann Tardif and her husband, Brian, his nephew Anthony (AJ) Rowey, Jr., and his great-nephew, Jeffrey Tardif.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter and Ralph Rowey, Jr.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Egidio DiPardo & Son’s Funeral Home, 75 Harris Avenue, Woonsocket.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 4 -7:00 PM in Saint Basil the Great Melkite Greek Catholic Church, 15 Skyview Drive, Lincoln, RI 02865. A Service will be held on March 29, 2023, at 10:00 AM in the church with burial to follow in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, MA.
