John (Johnny "O") Edwin Ogrodnik, 65, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2021. He was the son of the late Edwin H. Ogrodnik and predeceased by his brother James (Jimmy) Maret and James’ wife Gale, and children Christopher and Amy. John is survived by his loving mother, Catherine (Scalzi) Ogrodnik, his Aunts, Vera Fish and Wanda Bruchman and his girlfriend, Lisa Mahoney.
Graduating from Coventry High School in 1974 John was that year’s recipient of the prestigious Ardis Barbour Award. In high school, John was a lover of all sports, playing golf, baseball, cross-country and - his favorite - hockey. John attended Merrimack College and graduated from Bryant (College) University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Business Management, where he also played hockey.
John was a lifelong entrepreneur with varied interests and endeavors, owning and starting several businesses. He also enjoyed opportunities to share his business acumen with others, creating a business focused on networking between entrepreneurs. John was well liked in both his personal and professional relationships.
Johnny enjoyed many genres of music, played the drums and especially liked when his extended family gathered to share their musical and artistic talents. He had a warm and easy smile, was a welcoming host and loved to engage people in lively and upbeat conversations. Serving in church was a part of John’s early life and in later years, he grew in his faith and love for God. He will be missed by his many friends and family.
