Joseph O. Trinque Jr., 89, of Chepachet, RI passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Providence. Born in Burrillville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Doris (Gillette) Trinque, Sr. He was the devoted husband of Janice (Whitman) Trinque for 54 years.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War era, Mr. Trinque dedicated much of his career to the automotive industry. He served as a longtime service manager at the former Trinque Motors Inc. and owned and operated Trinque Service and Sales, both in Mapleville, for over 30 years.
Mr. Trinque was an active member of several organizations, including the American Legion Post 17 Burrillville, The Townsmen Club and the Retreads Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed motorcycle rides with his wife, Janice, and was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan.
In addition to his beloved wife, Janice, he is survived by his children, Raymond Trinque (Susan) and Morris Merchant (Janice); six grandchildren: Patrick, Sean, Timothy, and Jillian, Sadie, and Wyatt; and three great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Rebecca, Alistiar. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Eleanor Trinque, a sister-in-law, Shirley Richard, a son-in-law, Mark Laprade as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Rae-Anne Laprade and his brother, Raymond T. Trinque.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Highway, Oakland. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM, A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Emerson Rd., Harrisville, RI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 88, 111 Chapel St., Harrisville, RI.
