Laura B. Martineau (Bernard), 98, of The Villages at Waterman Lake in Greenville, RI passed away peacefully on September 14th, 2024, with family by her side at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Hosana and Victoria (Durand) Bernard. She was the loving wife of Emile R. Martineau.
Laura worked for the Girl Scouts of America as a Girl Scout Troop leader for many years. She was an avid tennis player and often played with her husband. Music was always part of her life, and she enjoyed singing as a member of the West Bay Chorale. She was also a Real Estate agent and found joy in working with and meeting new people.
She loved spending time with friends and family and would often share stories of her life and over the years spent many hours researching genealogy to preserve her family's history.
While residing in Florida, she enjoyed painting and exhibiting her artwork.
She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite Rocha.
Besides her daughter, Laura is survived by her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Emile A. Martineau and her brothers, Leo Paul, Hosanna and Albert Bernard, sisters, Esther Jordan, Simone Allard, Blanche Tardie and Bertha Bernard.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Road, North Smithfield, RI 02896
A wake will be held in the funeral home on October 1, 2024, from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM, with a Service at 6:00 PM. Burial in St. Theresa's Cemetery, Nasonville will be private.
