Lloyd Foster, Jr., 97, of Chepachet, RI passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023. Born in North Providence, he was the son of the late Lloyd Foster, Sr and Ruth (Shippee) Foster. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence (St. Pierre) Foster.
He worked for the Narragansett Brewery for 17 years. Later he worked in the Maintenance Dept. for St. Joseph’s Hospital, Providence, as a certified boiler attendant.
He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII. After his discharge he played AAA Pro Ball as an outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds from 1946-1951.
He was an avid hunter, golfer, tennis player, fisherman and all round sportsman. He loved to raise and run his beagles.
He is survived by his children, Judy Logan and Jayne Hall (Wayne). He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 8 great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Walsh.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Hwy., Oakland, RI
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Funeral will be held in the funeral home on December 27, 2023, at 9:00 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Help Church, Victory Hwy., Mapleville. Burial will follow in Acotes Hill Cemetery, Chepachet.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lloyd can be made to the St. Patrick’s Food Pantry.
