Mary Lucille (Rivet) Ducharme, age 92, died peacefully at the Overlook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she had resided for the past three years.
She had many different chapters of her life.
Lucille, daughter of Henri and Alma (Rondeau) Rivet, was born in Oakland into a blended family of seventeen sisters and brothers: Irene, Yvonne, Cecile, Frederick, and Edgar, and Anita, Robert, Henry (who died at age 13), Marie Theresa, Claire, Rose, Laura (who died in infancy), Delia, Muriel, Eva, and Roland.
She was a lifelong resident of Burrillville and a graduate of Burrillville High School, where she played field hockey. She furthered her education by completing a number of Dale Carnegie courses.
Lucille married the late Francis E. Ducharme, and they lived happily together in Pascoag until his death in 1998. She was the mother of four boys: Daniel, Marcel, Roger, and Andre. As the years went by, she became a proud grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending time with all her grand and great-grandchildren whenever she had the opportunity.
During that time, she was an active church member and an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at St. Joseph Church in Pascoag and serving Overlook Nursing Home. When her children were older, she worked with Mr. Smith at his jewelry store in Pascoag and spent many years doing volunteer work at St. Joseph School and local nursing homes including the Overlook Nursing Home in Pascoag.
Lucille was a meticulous record-keeper and collector of inspirational quotes until the final years of her life and loved to play cards, work puzzles, and play Bingo.
A few years after Francis’s death, Lucille briefly moved to an apartment in North Smithfield, and then lived as a wonderful neighbor in her Mapleville in-law apartment for 12 years.
Failing health due to Parkinson’s disease and a number of falls caused her to become a resident of the same Overlook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she had served as a volunteer.
Lucille was predeceased by her husband Francis and by sisters Irene, Yvonne, Cecile, Anita, Claire, Rose, Muriel, and Eva, and by brothers Frederick, Edgar, and Robert. Surviving members of the Rivet family are sisters Marie Theresa of Pascoag and Delia of Providence, and brother Roland of Clinton, Tennessee.
