Chepachet - Mary Janette (Alexander) Lefebvre, 72, of Chepachet, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11th 2024 at home, surrounded by all of her family members and loved ones after a sudden and brief battle with cancer. Mary is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Kristie Alexander and her partner Alexandria, Samantha Alexander and her partner Byron, McKayla Ivins and her husband Raymond, Hayley Heroux and her partner Sean, Alexia Osborne and her husband Nickolas, James Ballou and his partner Brooke, Dylan Ballou and his partner Ashley, Brendan Ballou and his partner Cheyenne, Violet Ballou, and Chastity Ballou.

Additionally, she leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren: Bradley Ivins, Raymond Ivins Junior, Bella MacIntyre, Alecia Ballou, Caleb Ballou, Evelyn Ballou, and Bodie Ballou.

Mary is also survived by her 5 siblings, Ruth Foster, Donna Bast & her partner John, Randy Alexander and his wife Judi, Deborah Ceasana and her husband Butch, and Bertha Montie and her husband Rick.

Mary also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, other family members, and beloved friends & neighbors. Mary is predeceased by her husband, Edward Lefebvre and brother, Edwin E. Alexander Junior.

Mary worked a myriad of interesting jobs which always kept her on her feet. Her most notable role was being a waitress for 16 years at Teddy’s New York System in Providence, and then at Sharon’s Country Kitchen in Pascoag. Mary’s tireless dedication to her job as a waitress did not go unnoticed. Her unique sense of humor and vibrant personality attracted many regular customers to the restaurants that she worked at, some refusing to be served by anyone but her when dining out. She was previously a hairdresser from Arthur Angelos at the beginning of her career, and enjoyed her retirement working for Rockwell Amusements, where she was able to radiate her contagious joy and infectious smile to fairgoers of all ages.

In her spare time, Mary enjoyed being with her siblings, getting into some kind of trouble or pursuing through local yard sales on a Saturday morning. She also enjoyed traveling to New Hampshire, particularly the White Mountains and Twin Mountain, where her parents frequently brought her for vacations as a young child. Amongst the finer things in life, she enjoyed drinking coffee from Dunkin, winning an occasional scratch ticket after several attempts, collecting purses, and watching the latest drama on TV.

Of all things in life, Mary’s biggest pride and joy in life was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she was a constant presence and driving force in their life. She wouldn’t dare miss a single sporting event, dance recital, or any other event her grandkids participated in that required their number one fan being there. Memere’s house was always open to those who needed a place to go, wanted to visit, or just needed to stop in for something in their travels. Family gatherings, especially during the holidays, were the ones she looked forward to the most. Having all of her kids, grandkids, great kids and other loved ones surrounding her was what she loved the most. Mary’s final wish was to have this one more time. She had exactly that as she passed, surrounded by love, sweet memories, singing, and prayers as she transitioned to be with the Lord, who she put so much faith into.

Per Mary’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Mary did not want anyone to be sad, but instead celebrate the colorful and joyful life she lived. Partake in an act of kindness, buy someone’s coffee, plant a yellow flower, and tell your family you love them. Most importantly, in her words, “life is short, and you might as well die happy eating what you want, so eat the damn slice of cake.”  We will be eating cake in Mary’s honor, and ask for you to consider doing the same.
