Michael Barry Jacques, 71, of Hubert, NC, passed away Tuesday June 18, 2024, at Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC surrounded with love.
He was born and raised in Woonsocket, RI, and later settled with his family in Burrillville, RI. He is preceded in death by his parents Alphonse R. Jacques and Jeanne D’arc Barry Jacques both of Woonsocket. He leaves behind his dear partner, Edith Smith, and his two cats Gondor and Panda. He had a life-long passion for the Ocean and loved his Jeeps.
He also leaves behind his beloved sister, Joann Jacques of Fitzwilliam, NH. his son, Michael Jacques and his wife Nicole, his daughter, Jenna Taratuta and her husband Steven all of Burrillville, RI. Most importantly granddaughters, Charlotte Jacques and Saylor Taratuta whom he adored.
He worked for Valley Gas Company starting in 1976, as a plant operator, later moving to the construction department. He then became a heavy equipment operator and was a part of Local 472. He settled in the later years of his career as a Construction Foreman and Supervisor for National Grid. He retired from the gas company in 2010, only to go on to AGI Construction where he was the live gas Superintendent. He officially retired from the gas industry in 2015. His knowledge, hard work, and dedication he brought to the gas industry was truly remarkable.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM.
Burial will be private.
