Patricia G. (Knaide) Campbell, 92, of Burrillville, RI passed away on September 30, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Born December 7, 1932, in Portsmouth, NH, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Inga (Kirk) Knaide. She was the loving wife of the late John D. Campbell.
Patricia was a graduate of Mount Auburn Hospital School of Nursing and she was a Registered Nurse (RN) who worked for the Commonwealth of Mass at Wrentham Developmental Center for over 20 years before taking an early retirement in 1992.
She volunteered on the Wrentham Committee for Human Rights at the Wrentham Developmental Center where she advocated for patients’ rights after her retirement.
She was passionate about her love of family and spent time researching her family ancestry before computers, where she was able to gratefully locate and meet her grandmother’s Norwegian relatives, planning a family trip to Norway in 1994 taking along her mother and Aunt who met their first cousins when in their 80’s on a once in a lifetime journey. She built new and long-lasting pieces of the family tree that otherwise would have vanished if not for her devotion to locating them.
She was known for her love for sentimental antiques and dolls, caring and teaching ways always sharing knowledge and she loved to sew, knit, crochet, make braided rugs and later learned the Norwegian embroidery called Hardanger. She made several special pieces for her beautiful retirement home she had built on Spring Lake. She loved to travel and visit new places. She traveled with her brother and his wife on great adventures in their retirement, and then she met her partner Arthur Pitt who she spent 15 wonderful years having a loving companionship and traveled by train, seeing America and Canada, family, and friends.
Patricia is survived by her Children, Brian D. Campbell and spouse Paula Wright, Gail Szafir and her life partner Kent Monroe, Beth Rivet and spouse Dennis Rivet, grandchildren, Sean, Scott and Kyle Campbell, and great-grandchildren, sister in-laws, Myrna Knaide and Janice Campbell, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews, and survived by 10 days her life partner, Arthur Pitt of Coventry.
