Rita M. Colburn, 72, of Burrillville, RI passed away at home on January 25. 2025 with family by her side. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Georgette (Paquet) Fortin. She was the loving wife of the late Carlton “Bud” Colburn.
Prior to retiring, Rita worked as a Fundraising Tech for Bryant University in Smithfield. She enjoyed crocheting, fabric painting and many other crafts. She was a lifetime lover of country music and an avid Nascar follower. She had a love for animals, especially her daughter’s cat, Jaxson.
She is survived by her children, Randi Freelove (David) and Rae Freelove Hairston (Stanley), and a granddaughter, Makayla Hairston.
She also leaves her sister, Nancie Fallon, nieces, Tamara Richardson (Dan Naylor} and Erin Fongeallaz.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ryan Freelove and her son-in-law, Stanley Hairston.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Hwy., Oakland, RI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa's Church, 35 Dion Dr., Harrisville, RI. Burial will respectfully be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rita can be made to the Burrillville Animal Shelter.
