Rita M. (Marshall) Roderick

Rita M. (Marshall) Roderick, of Burrillville, RI passed away on December 15, 2024 at the Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pascoag, RI. She was thrilled to have celebrated her 100th birthday this year with family and friends on September 25th . She was the wife of the late John Roderick with whom she was married for 66 years before his death in 2011.

Born in Mapleville, she was the daughter of the late John and Georgianna (Verrier) Marshall and lived in Burrillville most of her life. After her marriage to John, they lived in East Providence where together, they ran Johnny’s Diner on South Broadway. Moving back to Burrillville in 1957, they made their home on Tarkiln Road in Nasonville where Rita lived until 2023.

She worked for many years as a waitress at Gus’s Red Tavern in Nasonville and also at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, RI.

Rita was predeceased by her sisters, Georgianna Cesario, Rose Francis and Marion Johnson, her brothers, Manuel, John, Frank, Joseph and Archie Marshall. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Hwy., Oakland, RI.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11:30 am in the Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Hwy., Oakland, RI followed by burial at St. Theresa’s Cemetery in Nasonville, RI.
