Roberta Thomas Obituary

Roberta "Bobbie" Thomas passed away on July 5, 2020, after a 15 month battle with cancer. Bobbie was born on July 12, 1949 in Brockton, MA, a daughter of the late William & Avis (Skillings) Taylor. She is survived by Mark, her husband of 41 years, her two daughters, Erica Callahan and her husband Bill of Bedford, MA, and Kim Rix and her husband Mike of Uncasville, CT, her brother, William Taylor, Jr. of Port Orange, FL, and her beloved five grandchildren, Zachary, Tommy, Chloe, William and Matthew. Bobbie was preceded in death by her two sisters, Lorraine Taylor and Diane Thorngren. A graduate of Brockton High School and Murray State University, Bobbie taught physical and health education at Brockton Junior High School and Alperin Schechter Day School. While living primarily in Rhode Island, her favorite place was at their summer home on Sebago Lake, in Frye Island, Maine. She loved to be boating, golfing, enjoying social activities with friends and just sitting out on the deck watching the boats go by. During their 30 years on the island, Bobbie was very active at the golf course and was the Recreation Director for several years. Of all things Bobbie loved, by far her favorite was her family. She was an extraordinary daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and beamed with pride and joy at any family event. Mention a grandchild and just sit back and listen to how much she loved them. Bobbie was caring, compassionate and had a wonderful sense of humor. To know her was to laugh with her. Due to the corona virus, there will be a private Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that, in her memory, you simply do something nice for someone. Make your wife breakfast in bed "but don't burn it", bring the kids to the beach, give an opponent a three foot putt, buy an acquaintance a drink, or any other thoughtful gesture. And when you do it, think to yourself "That was for Bobbie". She would have liked that.
