Timo Polttila, born to parents Irja and Klaus Polttila on February 26, 1948, died September 17, 2024, on a full moon night at 11:20 PM. I believe he went dancing. We will miss him terribly.
Timo lived life with hope and courage. SISU we Finns call it. He did the impossible with his limited mobility.
He attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He hitchhiked across country to live on the beach in Mexico and then traveled to Alaska and stayed with friends for a while. He then moved to Key West near the beach and worked supervising at a group home. He then made another move to Virginia Beach, VA and adopted a family there. Lastly moving to Harrisville, RI where he did remote IT work, this was not a small feat for a man faced with his challenges.
Remembering his treasured Hampton friends, Bob Neugent, Jim and Tom Throwbridge, also his beloved grandson, Elijah Peck and his mother Christina Peck, lifelong college friends, Scott Aimers, Kent Krohlow, and David Godfred along with his niece, Sadie Polttila and nephew, David Polttila and many other dear family members. Bravo Bro!
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Hwy., Oakland, RI.
Service and burial were held privately.
