Celebrating the life of Timothy L. Brien
March 7, 1959 – August 24, 2021
Heaven gained an incredibly strong and handsome Angel on August 24, 2021 when Timothy L. Brien, 62, of Lakewood Ranch, FL passed away.
Formally from Woonsocket, RI, Timothy is the son of late Robert A. and Julia J. (Lavallee) Brien. Tim leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 43 years Diane E. (Lussier) Brien.
Tim served in the U.S. Navy from 1977-1981, then moved on to his career of being a Fire Fighter and EMS Director for the City of Woonsocket from 1984-2007. Tim received his Master of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Rhode Island and pursued his passion of being an Athletic Trainer at Brown University, then becoming the first Strength and Conditioning Coach for both Bryant University and Franklin Pierce University. Upon his retirement from his Coaching, he and his family relocated to Florida to keep his amazing tan going.
Tim had an incredible passion for weightlifting and powerlifting his entire life, holding one of the current records for being The Strongest Man in New England. Tim loved sharing his knowledge and passion with others and was an incredible mentor to all the athletes he coached and trained throughout his life.
Tim was a man of service in just about everything he did, family man, military, coaching, teaching, fireman and medic, so caring of everyone who crossed his path. He did everything with a gentle heart, true dedication, and compassion. He held an admiration by many and was often in the background observing. He always cherished his friends of longevity, their support that has been with him throughout his entire life. For those that were blessed to know him and feel how special a guy he truly was, they will always hold his presence in their hearts.
Tim is survived by his two daughters, Tarah Castiglioni and her husband Brian of Jaffrey, NH, Jamie Germain and her husband Jeffrey of Lakewood Ranch, FL, his three beautiful grandchildren Scarlett, Dax and Gia who will always remember having the most amazing Pep in the world. Tim’s grandchildren were his world, and he adored and loved them to no end. Also survived by his brother, Tommy Brien and his wife Cathy, his sister, Julie Brien, sister-in-law Debbie Brien and several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memories of camping, coaching, and hiking. Tim was predeceased in death by his brother Robert G. “Bobby” Brien.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, in the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Road, North Smithfield, RI from 10 AM - 1 PM
